Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2013 - January

Hi Scrappy Folks! This is my first time participating in the Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2013. I have made many tags before but felt I wanted to learn a few new techniques this year. I always admired his work and love his products but was always a bit reluctant to try them. Well no time like the present. I am excited to have finished the first tag and I am actually like how it turned out. I was a bit scared to be honest. Unfortunately I have the attitude as I better get it right the first time or your just wasting supplies and product.  Enough babble. Below is my first tag..and hope to follow through with the rest.

I didn't use all the exact supplies as Tim did and had to improvise a bit. I am still very happy with how it turned out.  I didn't have a decent enough pattern on my embossing folders, so I used white embossing powder and stamped over with the same pattern with black ink. The quote I stamped was Believe that you can and you will.

I used a smaller tag for my quote.

I use Tim Holtz products on my layouts and I ran out of the bigger gears I had. I had to improvise there as well. You can see I even used a washer from my hubby's tool box.

Supplies used:
Tag: I made from my abundance of file folders.
Embossing ink: Tim Holtz embossing pad
Embossing powder: Stash
Stamps: Unity
Ink: Stazon
Distressed inks: spiced marmalade, iced spruce, black soot

Chipboard: Dusty Attic, Stash
Gears: Tim holtz (mini gears), Prima (large)
Game spinner: Tim Holtz
Film Strip: Tim Holtz
Metal mini clock: Michaels bead landing
Paper clip: stash
Metal saying: Why not? Darice Charm

  3. Nothing wrong with improvising - that is what makes your individuality and creativity shine! Great job! Love how you did the background - it looks very old world.

  6. love the washers and things you added to the tag! the beauty of this style is you don't have to get it right the first time, you can just layer and cover up if you don't like a bit so you aren't wasting things - of time!! have fun doing the tags this year!
