Tattered Floral Challenge at Tim Holtz Blog

Hi Scrappy folks!! I love making my own handmade flowers. Tim Holtz has a Challenge up on his blog to make some. Go Here>>> Tattered Floral Challenge. So I figured why not!! I love his products so I figured I'd give it a go. I check his blog daily to see some new entries for inspiration. Wow I love seeing the amazing artists. They such great talent.  I see many people already added their flowers to projects. I figured I stockpile mine and save them for just the right project. Nothing wrong with having a handmade stash too.  Ok enough jabber I do not want to bore you. Onto to my flowers.

One of my other hobbies is to garden so I figured I would try to come as close as possible to making replica of actual flowers. I made a Rose, Daisy, Sunflower, Forget -Me- Not's and sort of a Tiger Lily.

There are many layers on my rose. I think I used a total of 8 small, 4 medium and 3 large flowers from the die to make this flower. I sprayed with water and crinkled the papers as well.  I used Tim Holtz Kraft Resist papers and inked them with distress festive berry ink. I used gold Stickles for and  added touch.  I cut the 2 leaves from burlap and inked with evergreen bough distress ink.

Rose Flower

For the sunflower I cut 2 larger flower from die and inked with mustard seed and spiced marmalade distress inks. I creased the petals a bit to look more like a sunflower and inked the tips with a little black. For the center I added some black glitter. I cut a single leave and added evergreen bough distress ink.

Sunflower

Now for my Daisy. I cut 2 larger flowers and 1 leaf  from tear paper and magic mesh. I heat embossed the center of flower using distress emboss ink and yellow powder. I inked the leaf with evergreen bough. Next time I will be a tad more careful to  try to keep the yellow powder in the center of the flower. It ran over a bit into one of the petals.

Daisy

My version of a tiger lily. I cut 2 larger flowers from acetate. I used sunset orange alcohol ink to add color. I used a heat gun to apply  a bit of heat for a little dimension. This way the flowers aren't too flat. You only need a little heat the acetate melts fast. I did have to try this method a couple times. For the centers I inked with orange and used a permanent marker for tips of stamen.  Next time I will go a bit darker. Add dots on flower with permanent marker. These aren't my fave flowers but I think they turned out pretty cool.

Tiger Lily

I cut 3 small flowers from acetate. They remind me of  the Forget -me- Not's  when used individually. I did used the heat gun again for a curled effect.  I added stream alcohol ink for color and added pearls to the centers.

Well that's my stockpile so far. I had a lot of fun making these flowers. I hope you like them too.

Thanks for stopping by! Love and hugs!
